En mi libro "The Moncada Attack: Birth of the Cuban Revolution" publicado en el 2007 (a la venta en Sentir Cubano en Miami y en Amazon.com) señalo en la página 7:
"Raúl Castro's paternity has been credited in some written accounts to twenty-nine-year-old Pvt. Felipe Mirabal Mirabal, who with thirty-two-year-old Cpl. Narciso Campos Pontigo and another soldier, comprised the Rural Guard outpost at Marcane in 1930. Two former army lieutenants stated that Campos, not Mirabal, was Raúl Castro's biological father."
En la nota 21 sobre dicho párrafo, en las páginas 284-85, señalo:
"According to Lt. Carlos Lazo Cuba, who was imprisoned in 1959 with Felipe Mirabal Mirabal and Narciso Campos Pontigo (September 3, 1898-April 1970), the latter was released from the Santiago de Cuba vivac jail in early January 1959 by three captains under Raúl Castro's orders and allowed to obtain asylum in the Brazilian Embassy in Havana. Campos settled in New York, where he passed away. Mirabal was sentenced to death by firing squad on September 17, 1959, but the penalty was never enforced. He died of cancer in the Combinado del Este prison on January 4, 1984. According to Lazo, Mirabal assured him that Campos was indeed Raúl Castro's father. Lt. Antonio Ochoa Ferrer also attributed Raúl Castro's paternity to Campos."
Cuando Raúl Castro fue detenido el día después del ataque al Moncada en San Luis, Oriente, por el teniente Vicente Camps, le confesó que él era el hermano de Fidel Castro y había participado en el ataque. Camps no envió a Raúl como detenido al Moncada, donde aún estaban matando a los rebeldes confesos y tirando los cadáveres en el campo. El tiente Camps envió a Raúl Castro como detenido al cuartel de Palma Soriano, cuyo jefe era el capitán Narciso Campos Pontigo, quien había pedido a Camps que le enviara a Raúl, y no lo remitiera al Moncada.

The accounts as Dr.De La Cova reviews in his book, The Moncada Attack, are very similar to the history that has been verbally passed down in my family, about my grandfather, Naciso Campos Pontigo. La segunda esposa de Naciso, Melba Bonilla, era mi abuela, y la madre de mi madre, Isabel.Although the paternity of Raul is not of much interest to me, I do find it interesting and hope that the future of Cuba is something that will be in my future as I was born in America in that same historial year of 1959.email: bjfhooker@aol.com
